She's Here! She's Here!

Finally, at 12:32 am on Saturday, August 25,2007, my wonderful little angel was born! Alyssa Marie weighed in at 7 lbs 1 oz and was 19 1/2 inches long. Both mother and daughter were very tired after a 32 hour labor, and now are at home doing fine. There were a few little scares, but we are left with only one minorish major problem. We are going to Eggelston today to have her right foot put in a cast.

Her right foot is turned in (club foot) and will need a cast for a few months. Other than that she is absolutly beautiful!

I managed to get her quilts finished just in time. We went to her regular OB appointment on Thursday and after the ultrasound, her doctor sent her to the hospital for admittance. They started inducing her at 4:30 pm on Thursday. I was able to give her the quilts at the doctor's office.

Unfortunately, the one that was done to match the rest of her bedding did not hold up well to washing. The brown and pink dot fabric faded something terrible! I was very dissapointed in the quality of the fabric. I spent over $100 on that fabric and the first time it was washed it faded! However the 9 patch quilt did perfectly after the washing. I have a couple of pictures I may try to post after I return from the doctor's office this afternoon!

Baby Watch 2007

Yes, that's right. Still no baby. Since I have made a non-refundable payment on a cabin in the mountains next weekend for our 30th anniversary, you can bet it will be then that she arrives in the world! Oh well, I wonder it is transferable???

I've got her going home quilt almost finished. No time to quilt today as Dami had his appointment in Atlanta today and had to keep him all day. Tomorrow won't be much better since I have a doctor's appointment in the morning and Dami starts his OT in the afternoon. Maybe Wednesday...

Thursday, of course, is our actual anniversary. Thirty years since Elvis permanently left the building and Rex and I got married. Time is really flying by these days. I don't feel any older, but it seems to be happening anyway!

Gotta run it is getting late...

Quilting again!

Great News! (at least for me) I have the information needed to make my KQ622 behave, and have spent an afternoon of frogging out the terrible quilting. As I start re-quilting I am liking the results so much more!

Amazing that it takes so long to un-stitch what it took only a few hours to stitch. I'm waiting for the mail lady to come and bring me a check so I can order some new stuff to help with my quilts. Stuff like new needles, new belts, new books and DVDs. I love quilting, it is so much like shopping!!

We are still waiting on the baby to make her appearance. Yesterday's doctor visit produced no new news on that front. Still any day now. I may change her name to that! Alyssa (Any Day Now) Morris. I like that. Has a nice ring to it!

The weather has been so 'nice' lately. Heat Index of over 110 and no rain in so long, I think they are now selling cars without windshield wipers! I thought we had left that kind of heat back in the early 90's when we left El Paso. I guess not.

As the mail lady has finally made her appearance, and left me something, I'll close for now to see what kind of trouble I can get into.

Still waiting for the baby...

Here I sit, still waiting for my first granddaughter to make her appearance. Tasha (my daughter in law) started having some light contractions yesterday, but so far nothing new to report on that front.

I have Alyssa's quilt loaded in my machine, but am having some major problems with tension on my KQ622 and am waiting for some help from the Ken Quilt people so I can get it completed before she arrives.

I've got so much practicing to do before I can really start on customer quilts. I've made a few for friends that were expecting, but I'm no where near being ready to quilt for pay! I definitely would not pay me to quilt something! Maybe I shouldn't have said that!

Need to run and make sure the little ones get into the bath without making a total mess of the bathroom.
